MIRPURKHAS, March 25: Members of Meo community took out a rally from railway station chowk here on Tuesday to protest against police failure to arrest the accused nominated in Surjit Meo murder case.

Led by Sher Mohammad Meo, Abdul Majeed, Mohammad Talib and Abdul Karim, the protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans against incharge of the investigation wing of Kot Ghulam Mohammad police.

After marching on main roads they reached at the local press club where they staged a demonstration demanding early arrest of the accused nominated in the murder case of Surjit Meo.

Their leaders told journalist that investigation police was pressuring the relatives of the deceased to settle the matter. They alleged that inquiry officer of the murder case was avoiding to arrest the accused.

It may be recalled that wife of Surjit Meo, Nusrat Meo, allegedly involved in the offence, had disclosed his murder to relatives and later, on her disclosure police exhumed his body near poultry farm at Safedo Mewo village near Kot Mir’s, in the jurisdiction of Kot Ghulam Mohammad police station.

Mohammad Aslam Meo, brother of deceased, had lodged an FIR with the Kot Ghulam Mohammad police about five days back, alleging that accused Dhanji Kolhi, Dhero Kolhi, Roop Chand Kolhi and Shivji Kolhi, with the help of Nusrat, had killed his brother and buried the body near Safedo Meo village.

BODY: Police found the body of a newborn baby near Walkart road on Tuesday and moved it to the mortuary of Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital after some passersby informed them about it.
