ISLAMABAD, March 22: Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) and National Vocational and Technical Education Commission Altaf M. Saleem on Saturday resigned from the two offices as the resignations of political appointees continue to pour in ahead of the formation of a new government.

A notification issued in this regard however said he would continue to hold the office till the new incumbent was assigned the responsibility.

Later, Mr Saleem paid a farewell call on the caretaker prime minister Mohammedmian Soomro.

Mr Soomro appreciated his services as chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority and said he had accepted a very challenging task of reconstruction after the earthquake. He also lauded his contribution as chairman Navtec.
