NEW DELHI, March 15: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership skills came in for praise from former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq who said his composure and bold approach has been remarkable.

“I have been impressed with his captaincy. He is calm in difficult situations and has a positive approach. He takes bold decisions and has faith in his team-mates,” Inzamam said.

Inzamam, who is currently in Panchkula to play in the second edition of the Indian Cricket League (ICL), said beating Australia in their own den was a remarkable achievement for Dhoni.

“It is a remarkable achievement for any young captain. He believed in his decisions and it paid dividends in the end,” he said.

Inzamam said opposition teams have to show the same level of aggression to beat the Australians. “Indians were aggressive right through the tour. You can win against the Australians only if you show the same level of aggression,” he said.

He said the on-field bickering during the recent India-Australia series has increased the International Cricket Council’s responsibility to ensure fair play.

“There were so many controversies during the tour. The ICC has now a bigger responsibility to ensure fair play,” he added.
