Four power pylons blown up

QUETTA, March 14: Power supply to various areas of Bolan district was disrupted after four pylons of two high-power transmission lines were blown up on Thursday night.

Qesco officials said some saboteurs had planted heavy explosives around three pylons of 220 KV and one pylon of 132 KV of Sibi-Mach transmission lines.

They said that power supply to the district would remain suspended till the replacement of the pylon of the 132 KV line.

They said Qesco would face a shortage of 130 MW owing to the closure of the Sibi-Mach circuit.

Work to replace the damaged pylons of 220 KV of the Sibi-Mach transmission line would be taken up later.

Zamindar Action Committee chairman Agha Taj Mohammad and vice-chairman Haji Wali Raisani expressed concern over the blowing up of the four pylons and termed it a big loss to farmers. They said in a statement that elements responsible for blowing up power pylons should avoid such acts on humanitarian grounds.

They accused the government of having failed to protect power transmission lines.

They demanded that Qesco should replace destroyed power pylons on a war footing and restore power supply to the district as soon as possible.
