Boy killed in Swat blast

SWAT, March 14: A boy was killed when a bomb exploded on a road near Shah Dheri area of the Kabal tehsil on Friday.

The boy was identified as Anis, 14, son of Mian Syed Jan.

Local people said Awami National Party’s newly-elected MPA Waqar Khan was the actual target.

Abdullah Khan, an elder from Rahatkot area of the Matta tehsil, escaped an attack on his car. The car was partially damaged.

His brother Attaullah Khan had contested the Feb 18 election as an independent candidate but was defeated.

Two people were injured when a remote-controlled bomb went off in Teghako area of Kabal. The injured were taken to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested 31 militants during a search operation in Tilgram, near Malam Jabba, a tourist resort in the Swat valley. About 10 suspected militants were arrested from Munglawar area.
