SIALKOT, April 17: The accountant of the Government School of Nursing has allegedly misappropriated the school funds.

According to the FIR lodged by the school principal, accountant Ayub withdrew Rs646,000 from a bank branch for disbursement of scholarships to the under-training students. But, he did not report back to the school.

Rangpura police have registered a case. Whereabouts of the accused are still not known.

Sialkot airport: The possession of the entire land for the construction of airport has been given to the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) and all necessary formalities for the implementation of the project have been completed.

This was told to the participants in a meeting of various committees which was presided over by SIAL chairman Mian Riaz.

Master plan of the airport and proposed infrastructure such as construction of runway, taxi way, terminal building and cargo complex were discussed in detail.

POLLING STATIONS: Over 1,967 poling stations will be set up throughout the district for the April 30 presidential referendum.

This was stated at a meeting which was held to review the referendum arrangements on Wednesday.

Sialkot district and sessions judge Zahur Abbasi, who is the assistant returning officer, told the meeting that 46 more polling stations would be set up than originally planned.

Strict security arrangements have been planned in polling stations so that voters could cast their votes without any fear.

Polling stations would be set up in DHQ and THQ hospitals, petrol pumps and other important spots.

The polling will be held from 9am to 7am.

Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Maj-Gen Sardar Anwar Khan (retired) will address a public meeting here on April 20 in connection with the presidential referendum.
