Yasir, Asad in massive stand

KARACHI, March 12: A mammoth 431-run partnership between Pakistan opener Yasir Hameed and Asad Shafiq helped NWFP pile up 503 for two in the second day of the Pentangular Cup fixture against Balochistan at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Wednesday.

Yasir, the 30-year-old right-hander, smashed a career-best 265 not out, while Karachi-born Asad hit 181as the pair showed no mercy to the bowlers during their second-wicket stand in 325 minutes.

Yasir negotiated309 balls and laced his knock with 43 fours and six sixes. Asad, the wicket-keeper/batsman, hammered 33 fours and one six in his 251-ball innings.NWFP finished the day with a lead of 195 on the first innings.
