Six die rescuing ‘breadwinner’

SARGODHA, March 11: Six members of a family, including a woman, died in a bid to rescue their buffalo which fell into a drain carrying industrial waste on Lahore-Sargodha Road near Dodda on Tuesday.

Six others who tried to rescue the family members were lying unconscious in a local hospital.

Reports said a buffalo of one Mutali fell into the industrial waste of a factory owned by a former provincial minister. Mutali, her wife Sakina Bibi, son Muhammad Shahbaz, brother Mehr Muhammad, Fatim and Naureen died from toxic effect of the waste in a bid to rescue the animal.

Six people of the nearby outhouses fell unconscious in their attempt to rescue the family members.

The unconscious victims have been identified as Amir Khan, Saif and Rasoolan. — Correspondent
