LAHORE, March 10: Former Test bowler Aaqib Javed has been appointed as coach of the Pakistan Academy team while Taimur Azam will perform similar duties with the Pakistan Under-15 side.

This was announced by Pakistan Cricket Board’s Director Cricket Operations, Zakir Khan on Monday.

The academy team will take part in a three-nation academies tournament to be held in Bangladesh from April 15, he added.

Besides Pakistan, the other two academies taking part are South Africa and the hosts Bangladesh.

Zakir said that Taimur from Islamabad will be coaching the under-15 outfit for the World Cup, to be held in the West Indies in April.

The under-15 squad will be selected from the best players of the recently concluded under-16 tournament, which was held at national level.

The PCB had short listed 37 best players of the tournament to form the under-15 team.

Meanwhile, Wisal Durrani has been inducted into the PCB’s Governing Board domestic cricket sub-committee which also have Aslam Sanjarani as its chairman while former skipper Intikhab Alam, Shakeel Shaikh and HBL’s Abdul Raquib as members.

Wisal is also a member of the Governing Board and the president of Peshawar Cricket Association.
