PESHAWAR, March 10: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has urged the tribal elders to play their due role in maintaining peace in their respective areas.

“The government is committed to socio-economic uplift of the tribal area but that is possible only when complete peace prevails”, the governor said while talking to a seven-member delegation of tribal elders of Gudar, Jani Khel area of Khyber Agency, which called on him here on Monday.

The delegation headed by Haji Shah Wali discussed with the governor problems of the area and demanded development schemes in different social sectors to facilitate the local population, said a handout.

They said that their areas had always remained peaceful, where a peace committee was overseeing the situation very effectively. They assured the governor that they would maintain peace in their area and extend full cooperation to the local administration in this regard. The governor appreciated the views expressed by the participants of the delegation and said that the govt highly regarded the sentiments of the tribal people, who had always remained faithful to the country and offered many sacrifices to safeguard the interests of Pakistan.— Bureau Report
