PESHAWAR, March 10: Seven people were killed in two road accidents in Haripur and Chitral on Monday.

In the first incident, four persons lost their lives in a road accident in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station near village Ali Khan here on Monday morning.

Police and eyewitnesses told that Mansehra-bound motorcar bearing No C-4585 Karachi was coming from Hasan Abdal carrying four persons collided head on with a truck C-2920 Peshawar, when it reached near Al-Sadaat Market Ali Khan killing three persons on the spot and injuring the fourth.

The bodies and injured were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital, Haripur. The injured was referred to the Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad in critical condition who succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, police told.

Those killed were identified as Muhammad Shafiq son of Ajab Khan resident of Khawari, Mansehra; Muhammad Asif son of Haroon Khawari; Muhammad Faisal son of Aurangzeb Gajbori, Mansehra, while the identity of the fourth deceased could not be ascertained.

Meanwhile, three persons died when a jeep plunged into Chitral river at Mroi here on Monday morning.

The dead included Noor Mohammad of Mughlandeh village, Anwarul Haq of Mori Lusht and driver Javaid Ahmed of Chumurkone village. The dead body of Javaid Ahmed could not be retrieved from the river till filing of this report.
