HYDERABAD, March 9: The Sindh Taraqi Passand Party has condemned the merger of nine Dehs of Gadap and Bin Qasim towns and 60,000 acres of land in the two towns by the Karachi city government nazim and warned that if the order is not withdrawn, the party will ask Sindhi and Baloch residents of Karachi to resist the move.

In a statement faxed to Dawn, STP chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said that the nazim had no authority to announce the merger, and demanded his removal for misusing his powers.

He said that it appeared that Mustafa Kamal represented only a particular ethnic community and not tens of millions of others living in Karachi.

Mr Magsi claimed that some of 60,000 acres of land had been leased out to some local people and the remaining land was property of the Sindh revenue department.

He alleged that the nazim was creating confrontation between different communities and warned that it could endanger peace of the city.

He said that Taiser Town, Water Front Sugarland City and Diamond Island City projects were parts of a conspiracy against Sindh.

The Sindh Taraqi Passand Party chief warned that the Sindhi and Baloch residents of Karachi would unite and oppose such projects.—
