Lawyers’ Rallies today

Published March 6, 2008

LAHORE, March 5: Lawyers are set to take out rallies in the city here on Thursday to press the new parliament to restore the superior courts judges deposed under the Nov 3 Provisional Constitution Order (PCO).

Two separate rallies would be taken out from Aiwan-i-Adl and Lahore High Court under the banners of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) and the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), respectively. Both the rallies, like the past practice, are scheduled to merge into one in GPO Chowk to proceed to Faisal Chowk and Punjab Assembly building on The Mall. The LBA and LHCBA will hold their general house meetings before taking out the rallies.

People from different walks of life, activists of political parties and civil society organisations join the lawyers in their rallies every Thursday to press for the reinstatement of judges deposed under the PCO.
