SHIKARPUR, March 5: After an interval of a few weeks, consumers are again facing flour crisis as well as rise in prices of items of daily use in the district due to failure of the district administration to control the prices.

Talking to Dawn, consumers complained that flour prices had risen to Rs20 to Rs24 per kg and that of ghee to Rs130 to Rs140 per kg. They called on the district administration to take notice of the price hike and ensure supply of flour, ghee and other daily items on normal rates.

ARREST: Two bandits were arrested after an encounter on Garhi Yasin link road on Wednesday, claimed the Amrote police.

According to the police, they spotted a group of bandits on the road. The dacoits opened fires on the police when they saw them coming to them. The police returned fire.

After an encounter, the police arrested Amanullah Kharos and Gul Mir Tarat Jatoi but their accomplices escaped.

The police recovered two Kalashnikovs and one stolen motorcycle from their possession.
