NAROWAL, April 15: Six people, including a woman, were shot dead on Sunday night in Aliabad village, about 10 kilometres from here, on suspicion of supporting the assailants’ rivals.

Tariq, Ilyas, Shaukat, Qaiser, Nasir, Ghulam Nabi, Asghar Ali, Akbar Ali, Khalid, Tahir, Iqbal and Arif had reportedly trespassed the house of Allah Ditta. On learning that he was not home, they forcibly entered the house of his brothers to look for him.

Unable to find Ditta, they shot his brothers Muhammad Arif and Abbas Ali, killing both of them on the spot.

Then they entered Munawwar’s house, asking initially for Mr Ditta, but ending up killing Munawwar, his wife Amin Bibi, son Tasadduq Ali and a cousin Raza Abbas. Munawwar’s daughter Rukhsana Bibi was seriously injured. The killings are said to be an outcome of enmity between groups led by Javed alias Jaida and Zulfiqar alias Bhutto. Bhutto is presently behind bars in Sialkot while Jaida is a proclaimed offender.
