LAHORE, March 2: Defending champions Punjab University (PU) with 256 points have won the Inter-varsity athletics championship for women when seven more finals were decided on the final day

of the tournament here on Sunday.

PU claimed six gold medals out of seven finals, leaving Government College, University (GCU) far behind with 90 points and Lahore College, University (LCU) in the third spot with 81 points. Sindh University, Jamshoro (SUJ) and Islamia University, Bahawalpur (IUB) are fourth and fifth.

Having notched up three gold medals, Madiha Latif of PU who had the lion’s share in the leaders’ tally of six medals was declared the best athlete.

100m: Madiha Latif (PU) 12.59sec; Naseem (PU); Nirmal Muzamil (IUB).

400m: Misbah Yousaf (PU) one min 10.08; Shamila Sattar (PU); Salma Nasir (GCU, Fsd).

Javelin throw: Madiha Latif (PU) 32.19m; Lubna Kanwal (Peshawar Univ); Nazish Saqib (GCU Faisalabad).

Long jump: Madiha Latif (PU) 4.37m; Fareena (LCW); Naseem Akhtar (PU).

5,000m: Samina Kousar (GCU, Fsd) 25min 10.43 seconds; Humaira (Sindh University); Kousar Batool (PU).

800m: Misbah Yousaf (PU) two min 44.89sec; Kiran Ramzan (PU); Amina Mir (LCW).

4x100 m relay: PU (Shumaila, Naseem, Kiran, Madiha) 57.84sec; LCW (Fareena, Amina, Marium, Bushra); GCU , Faisalabad (Shamsa, Rabia, Novaira, Ammara).
