KARACHI, Feb 28: The second Sindh ranking tennis tournament of the year which gets into action at the DHA Sunset Club on Saturday will not be a cakewalk for Davis Cupper Khan brothers – Jalil and Yasir – as the juniors are fast catching up with them.

The former had skipped the first ranking event of the calendar held last month while the latter left halfway due to persistent shoulder pain. Seasoned Aqeel Khan who won this event last year sponsored by an eating outlet is also not available as he has gone to India to play in ITF Futures.

Jalil, the losing finalist of last year, tops the men’s singles ranking followed by Yasir.

The appearance of junior international Syed Zuhair Raza in U-17 category in which he has been top seeded will prove whether the young lad has benefited from his recent training trip to India or not.

Another promising Nameer Shamsi and Adil Kohari who have gone to Malaysia to play in ITF 14 & under tournament are due to return by Monday and subsequently appear in the event.

Nasir Mushtaq, Khwaja Hamza, Talha Zubair Surmawala are among others who are set to excel in their age groups.

The organisers are lacking in their effort to attract new faces in ladies category and are relying on the same bunch of players who have monopolised all domestic activities since long.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Juniors U-17 singles 9.00 am
