RAWALPINDI, Feb 20: Two policemen were arrested while another escaped after an inquiry found them guilty of implicating an innocent citizen in a fake case, a police source said.

Abdul Khaliq lodged a complaint that his son Tahir was coming home from duty when the policemen intercepted him. After a brief exchange of words, they took the boy to the Ganjmandi police station and booked him in a liquor case.

A police inquiry was ordered which found the three cops - one ASI and two subordinate officials - guilty of registering a fake case.

The three accused officials were being kept in the City police station. The source said when the inquiry was completed, two of the policemen were arrested but their third accomplice managed to escape. This led to the suspension of three policemen of the city police station for negligence.—Staff Reporter
