HYDERABAD, Feb 20: A three-day flower exhibition beginning Feb 29 to March 2 has been arranged by the District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil.

District Nazim constituted an organizing committee headed by DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri, comprising DPO, Hyderabad, Imran Shoukat; President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries Haji Yaqoob; and representative each from commercial banks, Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, Sindh Abadgar Board, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Sindh Regiment Centre, Institute of Horticulture Mirpurkhas and EDOs of district government during a meeting held on Wednesday.

The meeting after discussing development works at Rani Bagh Hyderabad and other sites for arranging the show remained inconclusive. Another committee was formed to decide the venue.

District Nazim said the government had made the flower show an annual event not only to provide healthy entertainment facilities to the people of Hyderabad but also to promote flower culture.

He asked managements of commercial banks, universities, government, semi government and autonomous bodies, nurseries, private organisations and individuals to participate in the exhibition.

He said best stalls would be awarded prizes, shields and certificates.

Appreciating the Sindh Abadgar Board’s suggestion either to have a separate corner for high quality exportable flowers or a separate exhibition in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), he said the government wants to explore new revenue earning avenues by increasing business activities.
