LAHORE, April 12: Sadar division police on Friday claimed to have busted a six-member gang of drug traffickers, including a woman, and recovered 240 kilograms of hashish and one kilogram of heroin from their possession.

SSP (operations) Aftab Ahmad Cheema told a press conference that the gang had been smuggling drugs in and outside the country for many years.

He said the accused used to transport drugs by ambulances and supply them in different parts of the country.

The SSP claimed that ring leader Javed alias Jeda, along with his two accomplices, Tahir alias Tara and Zahid alias Mochha, were arrested after hectic efforts. They disclosed during interrogation whereabouts of one Shahida.

They told police that she was expert in packing heroin in suitcases to smuggle it to Thailand and other countries. She was arrested along with her sons Shahbaz and Kashif from Sabzazar.

Besides drugs, one shotgun, one pistol and 15 live cartridges were also recovered from their possession.
