BAHAWALNAGAR, Feb 11: Chaudhry Abid Azeem, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) aspirant for NA-190 (Bahawalnagar-III), has announced withdrawing his candidature in favour of PPP candidate Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, the former federal law and parliamentary affairs minister.

Mr Azeem announced the decision in a joint meeting of the PML-N and the PPP held on Monday at Chishtian.

PML-N Punjab vice-president Chaudhry Samiullah, Bahawalnagar district secretary-general Shafiq Khan and city president Rana Sultan Mahmood were also present.

Lauding Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Zulfiqar Khosa for the positive role they were playing for the restoration of democracy in the country, Chaudhry Ghafoor also thanked Mr Azeem and other office bearers of the PML-N for supporting him.

With the withdrawal of the PML-N candidate, the position of the Pakistan People’s Party candidate has strengthened against his rival PML-Q candidate.
