SIALKOT, Feb 9: All computer science teachers and IT experts at the district government institutions here on Saturday decided to boycott the election duties in protest against the non-payment of their seven-month salaries.

The decision was made at a meeting of computer professionals chaired by Mirza Abid Baig.

The meeting was told the male and female computer science teachers and information technology experts had been denied salaries for the last seven months because of some technical error in the official record of the district’s education and finance departments.

Mr Baig said despite holding repeated meetings with the heads of the departments concerned and especially with District Coordination Officer Capt Atta Muhammad Khan (retired), the issue remained unresolved.

He said due to non-payment of salaries the teachers had been facing financial crisis.

Baig told journalists that under the present circumstances the affected teachers and IT experts had decided to boycott the election duty. The officials concerned had been formally informed of the decision, he added.

Meanwhile, the central information secretary of Punjab Teachers Union (PTU), Abdul Rasheed Nagra, has demanded payment of the teachers’ salaries before the coming general elections.

ARRESTED: The Daska police on Saturday arrested four proclaimed offenders involved in kidnapping of a female agent of Sibtul Hassan alias Double Shah in Glotiyaan, Daska.

DSP Muhammad Arshad Baryar told reporters that POs Fiaz Malik, Sajjad Abbas, Fiaz Aadil and Muzzamil alias Gogi had kidnapped Fazeelat Bibi a few months ago for not returning Rs1.7 million to them. The accused were sent to jail.

The DSP further said that the police had also arrested three other POs, Asad, Sughra Bibi and Shamaila Bibi. They were wanted in a five-month old abduction and dacoity case.
