Aaj off air in Islamabad

Published February 7, 2008

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: The government on Wednesday took off air for a second time the Aaj news channel, a network official said.

The channel suddenly vanished from cable networks in Islamabad and several other cities while it was airing Live with Talat, a popular politics and current affairs talk show, Tariq Chaudhry, Islamabad bureau chief for the network, said.

“We were not informed by any authority, nor did they warn us before this unannounced blackout,” Mr Tariq said.

No government official was immediately available to comment on the fresh restrictions on Aaj broadcasts.—AFP
