NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 6: A woman was burnt to death allegedly by her husband for her insistence to visit her parents’ house.

According to an FIR lodged with the Lakha Road police station, the incident took place in Muharram Mari village on late Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old woman, Maheen, was married to Muharram Mari about six years ago. The complainant, her brother Allahando, said she had not visited the parents’ house for six months and he requested his brother-in-law to let her sister go for a few days, but he refused.

He said that after a heated exchange with Muharram, he warned him that he was going to complain to the notables of the community.

When he was leaving the place, her sister said she would like to go with him. This angered her husband who threatened to kill her if she left his house. Later, he alleged, Muharram sprinkled kerosene on her and set her on fire. She suffered serious burn injuries and died.
