MIRPURKHAS, April 10: Several primary teachers staged a protest on Wednesday against the attitude of the EDO (health), Dr Illahi Bux Soomro.
The teachers had gathered at the EDO office to record their statements regarding an inquiry into the alleged charges of receiving bribe by some officials at the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas, from newly-appointed teachers for issuing fitness certificates.
The EDO left his office without recording the statement of the teachers.
Later, the teachers submitted their written statement at the EDO’s office.
JSSF: On the call of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation, the students of Shah Abdul Latif College, Mirpurkhas, staged a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike on Wednesday.
They were protesting against charging of computer fees and non-issuance of examination slips by the college officials.
The students, led by the district president, JSSF, Zeeshan Laghari, took out a procession from the college to the district Nazim’s office where they held a demonstration and raised slogans against the college administration.
Later, they observed a token hunger strike for two hours.
The protesters submitted their charter of demands to the officials of the district Nazim.
PROTEST: Under the aegis of the Mirpurkhas Sugar Mills Workers Union a demonstration was held at the Market Chowk on Wednesday to protest against the retrenchment of employees in the sugar mills of Sindh.
The protesters demanded the reinstatement of sacked employees of the Habib Sugar Mills, Al-Noor Sugar Mills, and Shah Murad Sugar Mills.
