SHIKARPUR, April 10: Sardar Wahid Bux Khan Bhayo, member of PPP, Sindh council, and Sindh PPP senior vice president Agha Sirajuddin Khan Durrani have rejected the presidential referendum and called it a drama to meet political ends by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.
While talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the PPP leaders criticised the referendum programme and said that Gen Musharraf who had come in power at gunpoint and now he was misleading the nation by getting votes unconstitutionally on the pretext of the restoration of people’s democratic rights.
They alleged that the democratic and constitutional values had already been damaged when Gen Musharraf himself declared as the President of Pakistan.
They expressed surprise for demanding vote while wearing army uniform.
They claimed that the patriotic and democratic people would reject the proposed referendum.
REFERENDUM SUPPORTED: Meanwhile, Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) leader Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, Shikarpur District Nazim Mohammad Arif Khan, Lakhi Taluka Nazim Faiz Mohammad Khan Mehar, Garhi Yasin Taluka Nazim Najam Khan Kamario, District Naib Nazim Zafar Ahmed Shaikh and other Nazims of some union councils of Garhi Yasin and Lakhi Ghulam talukas have through their press statements supported presidential referendum and offered their all services, including transportation facilities, for voters on the polling day.
