KHAR, Feb 4: Three people, including a woman and her young daughter, were killed while four others of the same family were injured in a clash between two brothers over a property dispute in Mamond tehsil, some 30 kilometres off here on Monday, residents and hospital sources said.

The clash occurred when two brothers, Fazlur Rehman and Jan Mohammad, attacked each other during the division of property in the Niyag Darra village of the Mamond tehsil. As a result, Jan Mohammad, his sister-in-law and a niece were killed, while four others received injuries. The women were identified as wife and daughter of Sher Mohammad, a brother of Jan Mohammad who was mediating in the dispute.

The injured, whose names could not be ascertained, were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar, where doctors said that condition of two of them was critical.

The political authorities initiated efforts through a jirga to resolve the dispute. Residents quoting the jirga members said that the two parties had agreed to hold talks.
