HARIPUR: Two women shot dead

HARIPUR, Feb 2: Unidentified persons shot dead two women and dumped their bodies on a roadside here on the jurisdiction of Khalabat Townwhip police station on Saturday.

SHO Khalabat police station Sarfraz Khan told Dawn that the police received the information that there were bodies of two women dumped on the roadside on Java Road near village Kakotri. The police shifted the bullet riddled bodies of both the women to District Headquarters Hospital Haripur for autopsy.

The SHO said that the appearance of women suggested that they were Afghan refugees and were shot in their heads with sophisticated weapons somewhere else and their bodies dumped there. He said that one of the victims was in her 40s and wearing shawl while the second was in her 20s and was clad in black Burqa.

The police also found two tickets of a private transport company, a copy of identity card and telephone numbers from the purse of one of the victims. According to the ID card, one of the victims was Bibi Kulsoom of Murad Shah Colony Rohri, Sindh while the identity of the second was not known.—Correspondent
