Torture victim dies in Gambat

KHAIRPUR, Jan 31: A youth tortured by villagers died on his way to hospital here on Thursday.

Tahmeezuddin Kalhoro was subjected to physical torture by some villagers near village Qaimuddin Kalhoro, taluka Gambat, some three days ago for his alleged involvement in a theft case.

The villagers handed him over to Sobhodero police after torturing him.

He remained in police custody for two days without any medical treatment and when his condition deteriorated on Wednesday night, the police handed him over to his relatives, who took him to the Chandka Medical College Hospital but he died before reaching there.

Khairpur DPO Fida Hussain Mastoi said that a committee headed by DSP headquarters had been constituted to conduct probe into his death.
