TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 30: Punjab PML-Q president Pervaiz Elahi has said that after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, there is no future role for PPP in national politics as it has no leader.
Addressing a public meeting in Committee Bagh here on Wednesday, he said leader like Asif Ali Zardari, known as `Mr 10 per cent’, was enough to bring the party to an end.
He said Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif were not contesting elections due to disqualification so people would never vote for `leaderless’ political parties.
The former chief minister said both the PPP and PML-N leadership remained in power twice but did nothing for the people and the country while the PML-Q brought about reforms in many sectors during its five-year term.
He said he had exempted farmers having 12.5 acre land from agriculture tax. The PML-Q leader also spoke of educational reforms.
He claimed that his government provided free of cost medicines in emergency wards of all government hospitals for all while doctors were now available even in basic health units in villages.
He announced that after assuming power, his party would build Kala Bagh Dam and “all those who are opposing it, should think why they are doing so.”
ACCIDENT: A man was killed while another suffered injuries by a speeding bus on Wednesday on Toba-Jhang Road near Civil Rest House.
Reports said Shafaqat and Zakaullah of Chak 325 JB Dullam were on their way to the town to attend Pervaiz Elahi’s public meeting on their motorcycle No (TSB-4474).
When they were two kilometres away from Toba, a Jhang-bound speeding bus (LZJ-9555) hit the bike. Shafaqat was killed on the spot while Zakaullah was admitted to the DHQ hospital from where he was referred to Faisalabad Allied hospital.
