HYDERABAD, Jan 25: Doctors at the Liaquat University Hospital (Civil Hospital) have been accused of negligence by Sindh Peoples Youth, Shaheed Bhutto because of the death of Comrade Raja Khemchand, Divisional President of the Peoples Youth Wing.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday, Dr Malik Munawar, Babu Qambrani, Mohammad Ali Mirjat and Mohammad Moosa Khoso said that Comrade Raja Khemchand was admitted to the Emergency Ward of the hospital on November 28, 2007 for heart trouble but expired because of the negligence of doctors.

They said Medical Superintendent Dr Waseem Shaikh had assured of appointing an inquiry committee which had not been named. Dr Malik Munawar also accused the Civil Hospital administration of corruption and alleged that medicines worth tens of thousands of rupees meant for patients were being misappropriated by them.

He said Comrade Khemchand died in the hospital due to the negligence and irresponsible attitude of doctors. He said when they complained, a false case of firing was registered against their colleagues.

He accused the Market Police of partisan and said that instead of registering case against negligent doctors, false case of firing against youth leaders Kashif Baghi, Majeed Siyal and Majeed Soomro had been registered.

He threatened to move the Sindh High Court for registration of an FIR against the Civil Hospital administration.

He demanded of the Sindh Governor, Chief Minister, district administration and officers to withdraw the case against Youth Wing leaders and order registration of an FIR against the MS and other responsible doctors of the hospital.

He said if justice was not restored, they will launch province- wide protest movement against the hospital administration.
