KARAK, Jan 23: Three people were injured when a bomb went off in front of the house of a retired PAF pilot in a village in the Bahaderkhel area here on Wednesday morning.

Police said the bomb had been planted on a main thoroughfare in the village outside the house of retired PAF pilot Lal Nawaz Khan Khattak in the Banda Daud Shah tehsil. Gul Sahib Khan, a watchman at the pilot’s house, and two women passing by the area, Farkhanda Bibi and Sameen Zareen, were injured in the explosion. They were taken to a hospital in Bahaderkhel.

District Police Officer Nisar Ahmad Tanoli told Dawn that relatives of Nawaz Khan had lodged an FIR at the Khurram police station against a proclaimed offender, Asgher, who was also wanted to police in different other cases of heinous crimes.

He rejected that militants were involved in the attack.
