LISBON: A plane with 10 people on board crashed into a mountain near the Angolan city of Huambo, Portugal’s Lusa news agency said on Saturday.

It quoted Celso Rosas, the director of Angola’s national aviation centre, as saying he did not know if there were any survivors. The crash may have been caused by bad weather, he added.

The airplane belonged to private company Gira Globo, which operates chartered flights in Angola.

The King Air B200 left Luanda, the capital city, at about 0600 GMT and was headed for Huambo, a city approximately 450km south-east of the capital. Rosas said the country’s airforce was searching for survivors.—Reuters
