PML-N rally against price hike

Published January 19, 2008

LAHORE, Jan 18: The PML-N, Lahore chapter, held a rally against price hike and shortage of flour on Kutchery Road here on Friday.

Police did not allow the rally to use Nasser Bagh for the event for security reasons.

The police cordoned off the area well before the rally’s scheduled time (3pm) by barricading all the roads linking the venue.

Even though the party had directed all its nominees for 13 National and 26 Punjab Assembly seats in the district to attend the programme along with their supporters, turnout at the assembly was disappointed as only a couple of ticket-holders arrived.

A party official quoted several party activists as saying that they were under pressure from their families not to attend public meetings in the wake of explosions in the country.
