President’s stand endorsed

ISLAMABAD, April 6: In appreciation of President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s policies to empower the people at the grassroots level, revival of economy, elimination of terrorism, alleviation of poverty, and political reforms, District Nazims and Naib Nazims of all the four provinces on Saturday fully endorsed the president’s decision to hold referendum.

“To ensure the continuity of policies and reforms introduced by the president, he should remain in office,” the Nazims from different districts told journalists after attending a meeting with the president.

They termed the president’s decision to hold referendum an important national issues and in the best national interest.

Zafar Ali Sheikh, Zila Nazim, Shikarpur told journalists, “We would support the president in the referendum to ensure continuity of reforms,” he said.

Syed Wali Jan Agha, Naib Zila Nazim, Pashin said that the referendum would decide the future of the people of Pakistan.

Rana Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Zila Nazim, Kasur, said that the decision taken by the president during the recent crises in Afghanistan had enhanced Pakistan’s image abroad.

Dr Mehboob-ur-Rehman, Zila Nazim, Swat said the referendum was the need of the hour and would pave the way for the holding of general elections in October this year.

Abdur Rehman Kanju, Zila Nazim, Lodhran said the president was working for the betterment of the poor and everybody was aware of that.

Arbab Attaullah, Zila Nazim, Tharparkar said: “I would go door-to-door in my area to tell the people about the steps taken by the president.” Noor Ahmed Baloch, Zila Nazim, Panjgur said the steps taken by the president were in the best national interest. Mumtaz Khan Khichi, Zila Nazim, Vehari said the way the president handled international pressure and internal conspiracies, the nation appreciated it.—APP
