RAWALPINDI, Jan 17: The Punjab emergency service - Rescue 1122 - will remain on alert during the Ashura-e-Muharram on Saturday and Sunday to provide medical cover to the mourning processions.

A press release issued from the emergency service here on Thursday said that the leaves and holidays of the rescuers at the service had been cancelled and over 400 personnel had been assigned special emergency duties in the city.

As many as 14 fully equipped emergency ambulances and 10 mobile posts will move along with different processions.

Rescue posts are being established at the Federal Government Girls Sir Syed School Sadar, Iqbal Road near Imam Bargah Col Maqbool (College Road Chowk), Banni Police Station, Asghar Mall Road near Qaddimi Baltistani Imam Bargha, Misrial Road near Imam Bargha Qaser-e-Shabbir, Mughalabad Road near Imam Bargah Qaser-e- Abutalib, Liaquat Road, Faizabad Flyover, Churrh Chowk, Sadiqabad, and Muslim Town near Shakriyal Imam Bargah.

In addition, four rescue medical camps will be set up at Banni Chowk, Qadeemi Imam Bargh, Fowara Chowk and Committee Chowk.

All mobile posts and ambulances with medical kits will be moving along with different processions to provide mourners with immediate medical treatment, if needed.
