LAHORE, Jan 16: The City District Government of Lahore will construct a monument at the site of Jan 10 suicide attack near GPO Chowk for paying homage to the police officials who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

An announcement to the effect was made by District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood who visited the site on Wednesday. The nazim directed Executive District Officer (Works) Rana Muhammad Ghaus to hire renowned architects with a view to preparing a befitting design of the proposed monument.

He desired that the names of the policemen who embraced martyrdom should be engraved on a specially-designed plaque besides allocating sufficient space for laying wreaths as well as flowers at the place.

“The police officials who died during discharge of their official duties are the heroes of the nation. The saved scores of innocent lives by sacrificing their own. The monument will continue reminding the people of the gallantry of the policemen and keep on inspiring the future generations,” he observed.
