PESHAWAR, Jan 16: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has demanded of the government to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of power and gas to the industrial units in NWFP.

In this connection, a meeting of the executive committee SCCI was held here on Wednesday with Haji Muhammad Asif in the chair. Besides others, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, leader of Businessman Forum Pakistan also attended the meeting.

The participants expressed concern over the suspension of gas and power supply to industrial estates in the province and sought the help of federal and provincial governments for its immediate restoration. The meeting decided to take up the issue with the NWFP Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani and caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk on their visit to SCCI.

The meeting also criticised the government for its failure to control the prevailing flour crisis and demanded that steps should be taken for its permanent solution.
