SIALKOT, Jan 14: Month-long anxiety and depression has taken its toll on a labourer whose daughter was kidnapped a month ago and on Monday he suffered a heart attack outside the Civil Lines police station.

Ghulam Rasul, 65, suffered the attack outside the police station he was visiting to plead with the officials to register a case against the accused kidnappers which the police have been refusing for the last 30 days. He was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Rasul’s daughter ‘S’ was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint from his house in Hunterpura one month ago. The labourer visited the police station repeatedly for the registration of a case against Shabir, Hafeez and Farha Bibi fearing that they might have killed his daughter. Rasul’s family alleges that instead of registering the case or rescuing the kidnapped girl, the Civil Lines police supported the accused, “who are influential” people.

When contacted, Sialkot District Police Officer Muhammad Ameen said he had ordered an immediate registration of the case against the accused, assuring they would be arrested soon.
