SHIKARPUR, Jan 14: A thief was killed in an exchange of fire with villagers in Long Detho Goth in the Garhi Yasin area on Sunday night.

Five unidentified thieves barged into the house of Haji Mirbahar with the intention of taking away his buffaloes. The inmates of the house woke up and raised hue and cry on which their neighbours came to their help.

The thieves opened fire on the villages, who retaliated. As a result of the encounter, one of the thieves identified as Rehan Shar was killed on the spot and his four accomplices escaped.
