ABBOTTABAD: Tourists throng Galyat

ABBOTTABAD, Jan 13: A large number of tourists from the lower parts of the country rushed to the Galyat and Thandiyani to enjoy snowfall on Sunday.

A large number of families visited Nathiagali and other hilly areas as the road had been cleared by the authorities.

Local people thronged Abbottabad after the restoration of public transport service to buy items of daily use as they had been confined to their homes for the past five days because of chilly weather, rain and snowfall.

Some link roads were yet to be cleared and the traffic police advised tourists and visitors not to move in the area after sunset.

EXAM SCHEDULE: The Hazara University has announced that the BA supplementary examinations which were scheduled to be held on Dec 29 and 31, 2007, would now be held on Jan 22 and 23.

The exams of Islamiat (compulsory) will be held on Jan 22 and Pakistan Studies Part –II on Jan 23 at 9am; and computer science, journalism (A) and geography (C) on Jan 22 and electronics, sociology (B) and chemistry (D) on Jan 23 at 2pm. The paper of statistics and political science, which was scheduled for Jan 19, will be taken on Jan 24.

VACCINATION: An official has said that vaccination against polio and other diseases was administered free of cost in 72 centres established for the purpose in the district during 2007.

RESIGNATION: Local leader of the PML-Q Haji Shah Zaman has resigned from the party with his companions and decided to support an independent candidate for the provincial assembly seat PF-46.
