Irregular gas supply irks residents

Published January 12, 2008

KOHAT, Jan 11: A large number of people protested against irregular gas supply in the city outside the office of the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd. here on Friday.

Some protesters and election candidates abused the staff on duty and gave them a 24-hour deadline to solve the problem.

People had been complaining to officials for the past one month that gas pressure in various parts of the city goes down significantly from early morning till late in the night. Some areas were experiencing complete suspension of gas which was causing severe hardships to people in the extremely cold weather. They said the irregular supply was forcing people to have meals in local restaurants and most office going persons and schoolchildren leave in the morning without having proper breakfast.

The protesters demanded full restoration of gas supply as being provided in posh localities.
