GUJRANWALA, Jan 5: The district health department has terminated the services of 210 lady health visitors (LHWs) on charges of negligence and absence from duty.

EDO (health) Dr Nisar Ahmed said here on Saturday that people had lodged complaints against the LHWs and they were often found absent from duty.

He said a total number of 1,900 LHWs were working in 188 union councils of four tehsils of the district, whose main duty was to establish health houses at their respective UCs and to guide the women for taking precautionary measures against different diseases. — APP
