Two die in Balochistan shootout

QUETTA, Jan 3: Two suspected terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Kan-Mehtarzai area of Muslim Bagh, some 160km north of here, on Thursday.

Sources said that security personnel signalled a pick-up going towards Dera Ismail Khan to stop, but the suspects tried to speed away.

The sources said that when the troops started chasing the vehicle, they came under fire. The force hit back and the exchange of fire continued for some time in which two suspects were killed.

“They were religious extremists,” a senior security official said, adding that they might be suicide bombers. Some documents were seized from the pick-up.

The bodies of the unidentified men were brought to the civil hospital Kan-Mehtarzai.
