LAHORE, April 3: Robbers struck nine times on Wednesday and made off with cash, gold, valuables, two cars and three motorcycles in different parts of the city.
Two gunmen robbed Intizar Husain at his shop in Harbanspura and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs28,000.
Another gang of as many robbers intercepted Zahoor Ahmad, a salesman of a beverage company, in Gulshan Ravi and took away with cash and valuables worth Rs50,000.
Three armed men stormed into the shop of Fariduddin in Naulakha, collected cash and valuables worth Rs250,000 and escaped.
Two robbers burst into the house of Rasheed in Hanjarwal and made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs200,000.
Two cars (LOX-115 and LXF-8710) were stolen from New Anarkali and Islampura while three motorcycles were lifted from different parts of the city.
ACCIDENT: Two people, unidentified so far, were killed in accidents in different parts of the city.
A man, about 35, was crushed by a train at the Shahdara railway station.
Another man of 45 around died when a truck hit him in Green Town.
FOUND DEAD: A 60-year-old man was found dead in Gowalmandi.
Police claimed the elderly man seemed to be a heroin addict.
The bodies were sent to the city mortuary.
SUICIDE: A 27-year-old woman took rat poison at her house in Kahna.
Quoting family, police said Razia, mother of two, was up set over domestic problems. She allegedly took rat poison and was rushed to the Lahore General Hospital where she died. Her body was returned to the family without autopsy.
ARREST: The police investigation wing claimed on Wednesday to have busted a three-man gang of robbers.
On a tip off, the police raided a house inside Yakki Gate and arrested Dilawar Khan, ring leader of the gang. On his information, his two accomplices Asghar Ali and Nadeem were arrested.
The police claimed all three arrested accused were proclaimed offenders and wanted by the Punjab police in several crimes against property. Three pistols and 11 bullets were recovered from the gang. Further investigation is under way. —Reporter
