RAWALPINDI, Jan 2: Representatives of political parties in the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) and lawyers here on Wednesday demanded immediate resignation of President Pervez Musharraf, highly level inquiry into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and boycott of elections by the contesting parties.

They also called for formation of a national consensus government, independent election commission and restoration of all deposed judges and 1973 constitution in its original form, says a press release issued by the office of Jamaat-i- Islami, where representatives of JI, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Jamiat Ulema-i- Pakistan, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) and lawyers held a meeting.

The meeting termed the assassination of Ms Bhutto the murder of democracy and attack on the federation.

It said PPP workers were not involved in the countrywide violence after the Liaquat Bagh tragedy.

The participants expressed sympathies with the family of Ms Bhutto and the Pakistan People’s Party workers and called the killing of Ms Bhutto an irreparable loss to the nation.

They also called upon the people and all major political parties to take part in their movement for restoration of the deposed judges.
