SAHIWAL, April 2: Water and Power Development Authority chairman Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan on Tuesday suspended from service a Mepco SDO, two line superintendents and a lineman over negligence which resulted in the death of a lineman and injuries to two assistants on March 28.

According to details, lineman Muhammad Sadiq and his assistants, Afzal and Fayyazul Hasan, were working on the Gunj Shakar feeder after securing valid work permit. However, the line was suddenly energized and Sadiq was electrocuted while the other two sustained injuries.

Those suspended ar SDO Abdul Munir, line superintendents Abdul Rahim and Masood Ahmad and lineman Kabir Ahmad.

The chairman also sought a report from the local Wapda circle who appointed an XEN for an inquiry.

WARRANTS: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mirza Jawad Ahmad Baig has issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Inspector Ziaul Islam Bokhari (retired) here on Tuesday.

Reports said the court had been serving notices to the retired police inspector in a murder case pending for the last eight years. However, he failed to appear in the court.

The Noorshah police station SHO did not arrest the retired police inspector and failed to produced him in the court.

The court has directed the accounts officer to report on the attachment of the SHO’s salary.
