KHANPUR, Dec 28: Nine PPP activists were shot at and injured when they tried to torch a petrol pump here on Friday.

Reports said some PPP protesters set fire to vehicles parked outside the petrol pump of Chaudhry Muhammad Azhar, a cousin of former provincial minister Chaudhry Ejaz Shafi. Armed men at the petrol pump opened fire at the protesters as a result of which nine of them suffered injuries.

They were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where eight of them were shifted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan. The injured were: Umar Farooq, Majid Masih, Zeeshan, Ahmad, Riaz, Mobeen Ahmad, Tariq, Khalil Ahmad and Waseem.

Earlier, the mob damaged the offices of the tehsil nazim and the tehsil council.—-APP
