82 outlaws arrested, arms seized

PESHAWAR, April 2: The Peshawar police have arrested 82 outlaws, including seven proclaimed offenders, and seized a large quantity of narcotics and arms during the last 24 hours.

Sources in the Police Department told Dawn here on Tuesday that the local police during road blockades and patrolling arrested 75 outlaws for carrying unlicensed weapons and narcotics.

They also arrested six POs wanted by police in heinous crimes. They have been identified as Khyal Bacha, Nisar, Abdul Khaliq, Abdul Malik, Sirajuddin and Mohammad Rafiq.

The sources said that the police seized 7 Kalashnikovs, 12 rifles, 8 shotguns, 16 pistols, 300 cartridges, 40 kg of hashish, 4 kg of heroin and 12 bottles of foreign liquor.

Meanwhile, a notorious drug pusher Mohammad Ikram was arrested during a raid at his residence on Tuesday.

The police have also recovered 3 kg of hashish from his possession. Kotwali police have registered a case.
