PESHAWAR, Dec 26: The central leaders of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) would address a public gathering here at the Jinnah Park on Dec 31 in connection with the movement’s decision of boycotting the Jan 8 elections and launching a movement for reinstatement of deposed judges of the superior courts.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, the provincial senior vice-president of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Dr Said Alam Mehsud, said APDM’s conveners, including Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Imran Khan, would address the rally, which he claimed would be attended by a large number of political party workers, lawyers, and civil society members.

He said the movement’s campaign for elections’ boycott was in full swing and would continue till Jan 8.

Dr Mehsud said political parties should side with the deposed judges in order to strengthen the movement for true democracy and an independent judiciary in the country.

Dr Said Alam Mehsud said the alliance between the

Awami National Party and PMAP was still intact but the ANP’s decision to participate in the elections, to some extent, had weakened the Pakhtunkhwa National Democratic Alliance in the NWFP.
